Talk with a Professional: Interview with Sally Mansour, PharmD

In late August 2021, Pleasant View School students were invited to listen to the monthly “Talk with a Professional” program hosted by the Islamic Association of Greater Memphis. The host of this program, Dr. Hassan Almoazen, interviews professionals in different career fields every month. The interviews allow students and parents to learn and gain more knowledge about various career paths.

Last month’s guest was Dr.Sally Mansour, Pharm D, who is currently a second year pharmacy resident (PGY-2) at University of Chicago Medicine. She obtained her PharmD from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in 2020, and went on to continue her first year residency (PGY-1) at Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters in Norfolk, Virginia. She hopes to obtain a position as a pediatric hematology/oncology clinical specialist after finishing her clinical training.

Interviewing Sally Mansour allowed students to learn more about Pharmacy as a career and the steps needed to becoming a clinical pharmacist. Students who have an interest in Pharmacy gained more information regarding this career field. Sally gave valuable tips that high school students should take advantage of in their high school year. She emphasized the importance of maintaining good grades and working hard to earn a scholarship that will help you financially, as well as the benefit in meeting professionals of different careers to figure out what your interests are. She continued to discuss her path and the steps she took towards pharmacy school. Students can find the video of the interview on the Masjid Arrahman Memphis’s Youtube account or at this link:
