Spelling بي

Last year, we had our first Arabic spelling competition with the 2nd graders. With the support of CISNA (Council of Islamic Schools in North America) to conduct a National Arabic Spelling Bee, Ms. Ahlam Qaddoumi became inspired to bring this competition to the school after joining CISNA as a committee member. She coordinated with four other teachers from different schools.

CISNA has provided 5 word lists to participating schools. The goal of the CISNA Arabic Spelling Bee is to teach young students how to spell, pronounce, read, and write Arabic words and to know the meaning in both English and Arabic. The competition is currently for students from 1st to 5th grade. The coordinators hope to include middle school in the near future.

The CISNA Arabic Spelling Bee will be an online competition. There will be two levels:

Level A: 1st to 2nd grade

Level B: 3rd to 5th grade

The school wide competition will take place on March 26th. Each level will have three winners (1st, 2nd, and 3rd place). Each school participating at the CISNA-NASB competition will then provide one winner for each level. They will accept an alternate if the original winner is absent from the competition The National Arabic Spelling Bee will be held on April 10th & 11th. We hope the participating students will enjoy this experience and find it to be enlightening.
