SENIOR SPOTLIGHT: Tasneem Khatib

Tell us about yourself.

  • Hi! My name is Tasneem Khatib and I am a senior in high school. I am someone who is empathetic, outgoing, hard working, and social. I am also someone who loves the fall breeze and the snowy winters. Something else about me is that I work hard at achieving goals I set for myself.

What are some hobbies you enjoy?

  • I love photography, volunteering, art, and playing different types of sports. I also love to read, have picnics, or anything that includes sitting outside during a beautiful, sunny, and/or windy day.

When did you come to PVS and what is your favorite thing about the school?

  • I have been at Pleasant View School since Pre-K so it has been around 13-14 years now. Some of my favorite things about the school would have to be the teachers and staff. I would not have made it this far if it wasn’t for the wonderful people and environment around me at school. I also love being around Muslims and in a place where I can practice Islam with other people.

Do you have a favorite club or extracurricular activity at PVS that you take part in and if so why?

  • I am a part of the Green Memphis Advocacy Club and Food Drive, UNICEF Club, Health Club, Health Equity Club, Journalism and Yearbook Club. I was also part of the soccer team before and even after covid. I love all of the clubs I was/am in so I would consider them all my favorite.

What are your plans for after graduation?

  • After graduating, along with college, I want to be able to stay as active as possible with my surroundings, learn new skills, and hopefully learn a new language. But for now, I think my main focus at the moment would be making lots of memories with my friends at PVS and continue doing well in my studies before graduating.

Do you have any advice for freshmen?

  • Do your best and put in as much effort into your work as possible. Try not to procrastinate with your work and don’t be embarrassed or shy to ask for help if you need it. You can even come to me for any questions, concerns, or interests.

What motivates you?

  • I feel like my main motivation would have to be Islam. Representing what Islam is and what it feels likes to be a Muslim gives me lots of motivation. I also get lots of motivation from my family, friends, and teachers. I hope to continue using these motivations in the future whenever I feel like I need motivation.
