Senior Spotlight: Mustafa Makhzoum

Tell me about yourself. When did you come to PVS? What are your hobbies and interests?

I am a Syrian refugee who came escaping war in 2018. I like playing basketball and rapping.

How has COVID-19 impacted your senior year?

COVID -19 has severely impacted me and a lot of people around me, and I miss the learning experience in face to face school.

What is the worst and best thing about being a senior?

The worst thing about being a senior is I feel so much older than everyone else (because I am older than everyone else because I came from Syria). I am happy to be a senior because I have a lot more freedom in my schedule and school life.

Who is your biggest hero/role model and why?

My biggest hero and role model is myself, because I always try to be the best person I can be and look up to myself and always try to improve to be better.

What will you miss most about your time at PVS?

I will miss the fun moments with my classmates, practicing and improving in basketball with the coach, and praying Dhuhr and Jumuah at school as most people don't get to do that.

What are your plans for college/after graduation?

I am uncertain about my future right now, God knows best.

What advice do you have for the underclassmen?

Structure your time well in life, set aside a time for fun and time for work.
