    PVS Spelling Bee

The Spelling Bee is an annual spelling competition. In 1925, a few newspapers collaborated and hosted a spelling competition which has transformed over the years to a national competition, in which individuals from all over the United States, and sometimes from other countries, participate. Each student is required to participate in a round at the regional level before moving on to the national level. Schools have multiple students interested in participating in the spelling

    National History Day Preparations

Every year, Pleasant View students in middle and high school participate in the National History Day competition. Students must choose a topic applicable to the annual theme, conduct research, and create a project that fits it into one of the following categories: performance, paper, exhibit, documentary, and website. Students have the option to work in groups, unless they are writing a paper, or they may work individually. National History Day has four different stages; the

Alhamdulillah, on October 4th, the sports practices and conditioning started with everyone extremely excited to get back into sports. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, PVS sports teams and practices had been put on hold until now. However, thanks to Br. Ibrahim Bell, a Physical Education teacher and Coach at PVS, this year has started off with our sports seasons back on track. So far, Boys' basketball and Girls' Volleyball and Soccer have been training after school and on weeke

    Green Memphis: Recycling Project

Recycling is one of the easiest ways to keep our environment clean and save resources. It is critical to teach students the importance of recycling so future generations can know the importance of recycling and keeping our Earth clean. Training students to recycle from a young age builds habits that will stick with them. Before the pandemic, Green Memphis, a PVS advocacy group, established a recycling program and placed a blue recycling bin in every classroom. Because of COV

PVS Science Bowl Team Prepares for 2022 Competition

In the most recent Tennessee Science Bowl Competition, the PVS Science Bowl Team made it to the top 16 schools statewide. The National Science Bowl (NSB), sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), is an academic science and math knowledge competition for high school students across the nation. Before the national competition, a school from each state is chosen. Last year, PVS put up a strong fight for that position. We were able to make it to the top 16 out of 52 scho

    A Bustling Senior Application Week

The diligent cycle has begun again for seniors all across the country to work on their college applications. Many PVS seniors have to balance multiple duties, such as studying for various AP courses, leading and participating in clubs, and training for sports. With such an intense schedule, it is tough to fit college applications into an already packed schedule. The application process is very lengthy and requires much time: filling out forms, sending recommendation letter re

    SENIOR SPOTLIGHT: Yusuf Mannan

Tell me about yourself. When did you come to PVS? What are your hobbies and interests? I came to PVS in daycare, when I was only four years old. I'm a PVS institutional product in and out- the school has really shaped my life, visions, and most importantly has been the best place for my Deen, Alhamdulillah. Over the course of my time at PVS, I have seen my career interests, hobbies, and general passions transform. One of my biggest hobbies that I am glad to have developed is
