The Migration Gained in Momentum by Jacob Lawrence
Between 1940 and 1941, while World War II raged and Harlem continued absorbing newly arriving black southerners, a young Jacob Lawrence was busy studying, listening, and painting. He was working on one of the five narrative series through which he chronicled the heroes, heroines, and watershed events of African American history, this one focused on the Great Migration.- Moma.org

A born and raised Memphian, Ernest C. Withers returned to Memphis after WW2, became one of the first African American police officers in Tennessee and then went on to pursue his passion for photography with 1-5 million photographs credited to his professional career.

Amanda Gorman by Greg Ruth
Like nearly everyone, Greg was astonished and inspired by Gorman’s presence, delivery, and poem at the Inauguration.
It is interesting to note that Greg executed this drawing in the recursive style of one single unbroken line, never lifting the pen off the paper. He said it seemed fitting, perfectly matching the fluidity of the poem- James Preller(2021)
